A bit about Rooted Ocean…

Rooted Ocean was born out of a passion for nature and that search for adventure whilst having a deep respect for our planet. Founded by Matt and Lee, two like-minded individuals who shared a deep love for the outdoors, the brand’s mission is to create sustainable, environmentally friendly products that encourage people to connect with nature. This passion for the environment is at the heart of everything we do at Rooted Ocean, including the creation of their Lifetime Gear range.

British Craftsmanship at Its Finest…

One of the leading features of our Lifetime Gear range is the materials and that they are made in Britain, a country with a rich history of craftsmanship and textile manufacturing. We  believe in supporting local economies and reducing our carbon footprint, and this commitment is reflected in the gear we produce.

Crafting each product is a meticulous process that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. Skilled artisans in Britain are responsible for weaving, sewing, and finishing every piece of material to perfection. British Materials: A Sustainable Choice…

The essence of Rooted Ocean Lifetime Gear lies in the materials used to create them. Each product is made with British materials, a conscious choice that aligns with Rooted Oceans commitment to sustainability.

1. British sourced Polyester Laminate –  used on our Traveller blanket, Little traveller, and Cove Carryall. A fire retardant and waterproof material brings the tough strength needed to ensure your gear lasts. With our Tomma Blankets we designed a wave quilt to run through the coated polyester which brings an extra layer of comfort and padding to the blanket making it perfect for wrapping up to stay warm to sitting on to protect yourself from the damp surroundings.
   
2. Anti pill cotton  – Working with Halley Stevensons the base of our Traveller and Little Traveller blankets is made from their Anti Pill cotton. Specialists in waxed canvas and waterproof materials the Anti Pill cotton is coated in C6 Fluorocarbon which allows it to be water and oil repellent. We recognise that the use of fluorocarbons isn’t the best and we are always searching for more sustainable alternatives such as water based chemicals. However for the moment the fluorocarbons are the strongest finish to allow for our travellers blankets to be as durable as we need. We want them to last a lifetime so the stronger the better.
3. Quilted by Caledonian quilting – Our cotton canvas requires padding to bring the soft feel and comfort to the top of our Traveller blankets. Founded in 1969 Caledonian Quilts ensure our canvas is turned into a comforting quilt working from their base in East Lothian.
4. Ultra Dry Wax Cotton Canvas – The Knapsack range is built with 100% dry waxed UK cotton canvas. We work with British Millerain who have six generations of textile manufacturing and are a British based company. Their canvas is ultra lightweight, compact nylon ripstop and has durable water repellent finish which means our backpacks are built with the british weather in mind.
