As this year draws to a close, it’s given us the chance to look back and reflect on a busy one here in the workshop for us, but for also YOU…all of our crew who have been out and about using our gear or partnering with us.
Here’s just a few highlights to look back on…
Workshop highlights
As well as making our core products, carrying out hundreds of repairs on wetsuits, jackets, jumpers and more, plus creating some custom or one-off items, we also launched a number of new products to add to our ‘Lifetime Gear’ range.
Some of these have been ideas for a while and some were thought of, designed and protypes created in minutes. And some were also things suggested by our customers, based on items they owned that they wished we would make or things that would make their lives easier when they were out and about.
These new products launched in 2025 included…
The Journey Backpack Collection
The Cleave and Strand are our established British made backpacks, but we felt we wanted to produce a range of bags that had a different look, plus came with some other features. The Journey Collection was born and included two backpacks – the Daily Journey and the larger Global Journey, plus a messenger-style bag called the Urban Journey.
The Urban Journey has had a few tweaks since launch as well, as it now features two handles at the top and two fastening straps instead of one.
The Solo Sit Mat
Joining it’s larger siblings of the Original Traveller blanket, the Middy Traveller and the Little Traveller, the Solo Sit Mat was one of those ideas suggested to us from one of our crew. He was an avid hiker and used the Little Traveller to sit on for a break, but mentioned that something half the size and weight would be ideal for just one person.
Dog Wear
We’re big dog lovers here at Rooted Ocean and know many of you are too. So it was probably only a matter of time before we launched some outdoor gear for your four-legged friend too.
Earlier in the year we created two dog beds/sit mats – the Comfort and the Compact, three new dog leads – the Webbing lead, the Premium lead and the Runner lead, plus a webbing dog collar.
The Wanson Carryall
Another product inspired by a customer, who us their much-loved bag from the 1990s and asked if we could make one with modern fabrics.
The Wanson Carryall is waterproof and importantly features a zip top, to keep all your possessions safe inside.
Accessories galore!
Our most recent launches have been a small collection of accessories that just make life easier. These include a carry-strap for our Original Traveller blankets, a Middy-sized version of our Snapper key ring and a longer Snapper Webbing Lanyard.
The Venture Boardbag
Last, but not least, is the Venture surfboard bag. We wanted to eradicate the typical zip issues you get with standard surfboard bags (which we seem to repair lots of!), so we came up with a roll-top entry system – just like with our backpacks.
It’s a standard day bag, with 8mm protection and handle, however we can also customise these to include a shoulder strap or thicker protection for travelling.
