Located next to the Cornish coast, we design, source and make sustainable gear made in Cornwall. Formed in 2016/17, Rooted Ocean began as an expression and outlet for our love of the sea.
To see more culture and relevance throughout the industry, we set about on a problem-solving mission.
Our goal — “Inspire a love of nature, surf and outdoor activity through the best quality, sustainable gear and apparel.” We want to build and supply British made, stylish, functional gear for land and sea adventures. The Caveat? Be as sustainable as possible. We love Cornwall Council are on the ball with the Green Cornwall Strategy and we’re inspired.
The aim is to deliver super high standards and develop our wares in the UK, preferably Cornwall — supporting the area we call home. As time has moved on, we’ve moved from sheds and back yards into our location in at The Workshop, Bude. We’re so lucky to live in this wonderful part of the world, and want everyone to have a little bit of Cornwall!

At Rooted Ocean, we design and continue to develop a growing range of British-made products built to last and fit for the journeys they’re intended for. Every piece is created with purpose – balancing style, function and durability while remaining as responsible as possible in how it’s made.
We believe good gear should earn its place over time, not be replaced season after season. By keeping design and production close to home, we maintain high standards, reduce unnecessary waste and support the people and places that shape our brand. Regenerating once-loved gear and feeding it back into the circular economy starts with making the most of what you already own. We encourage repair over replacement wherever possible, extending the life of products that still have more to give.
For those buying new, all of our hardware comes with a 12–18 month repairs warranty. By offering this service, we reinforce trust in our products while reducing unnecessary waste – keeping gear in use and supporting a more responsible, long-term approach to sustainability.
